World Rotary Day
Come February and members of
Rotary all over the world remember the day 23rd February 1905.
You may wonder what is so special about this
day?
23rd February 1905 was the day
when attorney from Chicago Paul P Harris and three other business persons
founded the Rotary International Service Club.
The three other persons were mining engineer
Gustave Loehr, coal merchant Silvester Schiele and tailor Hiram E. Their first
meeting was held in the office of Gustave Loehr in Chicago’s Unity Building.
During this meeting none of them
ever thought that the club they have formed would become famous in all seven
continents with membership of 1.4 million globally.
We all 73 members of Rotary eClub
One from 23 countries celebrate World Rotary Day on 23rd February
every year.
On this day we ensure we execute
various projects worldwide from the following seven service avenues listed by
Rotary International.
1. Promoting
peace
2. Fighting
diseases
3. Providing
clean water, sanitation & hygiene
4. Saving
mothers and children
5. Supporting
education
6. Growing
local economy
7. Protecting
the environment
We commence new projects at new
locations or celebrate the same where we have already commenced the projects
before.
I can proudly say that we all
members of Rotary eClub One are involved in one or the other projects somewhere
in the world.
We members never ever forget that we as Rotary members are born to help someone and make them happy and we never miss this opportunity.
Best regards,
Yours in Rotary service.
